Bio

Over the last 20 years, Triandafellos’ work has been expressed through printmaking, photography, collage, performance art, Mail Art, large scale digital art and video documentaries. As the President of a Branding and Internet Solutions company, she integrates her knowledge of computer software and networking with her remotely located staff into her artwork. Triandafellos is inspired by a broad range of sources for her work: networking, nature, word play, the female form, pop and commercial culture, politics, social issues and dream imagery.

Her art is influenced by Dadaists, Abstract Expressionists and, most importantly, Mail Artists. In 1991, she graduate summa cum laude with a M.A. from NYU's Gallatin Division. Her thesis was on Mail Art for which she created a 25' foot scroll documenting her year long correspondence with world-renowned artist, Ray Johnson.

Her current abstract images are captivating in their vibrant color palettes and intricate layers. The artist begins by drawing an oil pastel, scanning it into a computer, then layering, manipulating and colorizing the "kernal" in digital form. Each kernal is cloned and scaled as it represents the visual "DNA" of the piece. The final abstractions focus around process as they incorporate components of traditional drawing, photography and digital art. Because Triandafellos starts with oil pastels, the final art is rich in texture and depth. The focus is on the capacity of color, shape and texture to evoke emotions and memories. Titled with the spirit of her earlier "mail art" work, the titles serve to provoke the intellect as well.

Her print work has been featured in the following spaces:
  • Permanent Collection, MOMA Library 1990
  • Permanent Collection, Trenton State College Library, 1980
  • Solo Exhibition, Hartford School of Art, 1981
